Hi Resident If you find this information helpful, please βrateβ this message at the bottom (very quick and simple). Over the last couple of weeks, the East Wight Neighbourhood Team has been involved in a number of operations and proactive patrols aimed at tackling crime, antisocial behaviour, and safeguarding those most vulnerable within our communities.
As part of Operation Spider, officers have conducted numerous stop searches and carried out patrols across the East Wight, paying particular attention to derelict and insecure buildings. Working alongside the Isle of Wight Council and property owners, officers have helped identify locations requiring attention and worked with partners to improve security and prevent individuals from trespassing into potentially dangerous premises.
Alongside this work, officers have carried out a significant amount of antisocial behaviour enforcement and made a number of arrests, including individuals suspected of unlawfully entering properties.
The team has also continued Operation Antidote, targeting the use and supply of illegal drugs across the East Wight. Through proactive patrols and stop searches, officers have achieved a number of positive results, including the seizure of both Class A and Class B drugs.
Our commitment to tackling vehicle related antisocial behaviour has also continued through Operation Sidlaw. Officers have stopped numerous vehicles and taken enforcement action in relation to illegal exhaust systems, excessive vehicle noise, and other vehicle related antisocial behaviour that continues to impact local communities. The operation has also resulted in the seizure and prosecution of riders using adapted pedal cycles that had been illegally adapted with electric motors, helping to ensure vehicles being used on our roads comply with the relevant legislation and safety requirements.
Many of you may also have seen officers conducting high visibility patrols in areas affected by the recent series of thefts from motor vehicles. These patrols continue alongside ongoing enquiries and targeted activity designed to prevent further offences and provide reassurance to residents.
The team has also recently taken part in Operation Make Safe, an initiative designed to safeguard children and raise awareness of exploitation. Officers visited hotels and other accommodation providers across the East Wight, providing advice and training to staff around the warning signs of child exploitation, grooming, and safeguarding concerns. By working closely with businesses, we can help identify those at risk and ensure appropriate action is taken at the earliest opportunity.
Throughout these operations, the East Wight Neighbourhood Team has worked closely with a number of partner agencies and specialist departments, including Trading Standards, the Child Exploitation Team, and the Joint Operations Unit. This partnership approach allows us to make the best use of resources, target those causing harm in our communities, and provide safeguarding and enforcement activity where it is needed most.
These results demonstrate the breadth of work being undertaken by your neighbourhood policing team every day. From tackling drug related harm and vehicle ASB to safeguarding vulnerable people and preventing crime, we remain committed to addressing the issues that matter most to our communities.
Thank you for your continued support and for reporting concerns to us. The information you provide helps us target our patrols and enforcement activity where it is needed most.
